Extra information about the San Francisco 49ers' schedule let slip by ESPN announcer Joe Buck
Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers are already confirmed as playing one game on ESPN this season, after it was announced they will open the campaign at home on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets.

And the network's lead announcer, Joe Buck, let slip that the Niners will be playing another on the network during the 2024 season.

Buck was speaking about that announcement and Wednesday's schedule release on Good Morning America when he revealed that ESPN has "another date with the 49ers".

That does not necessarily mean the 49ers will have two Monday Night Football games. ESPN broadcast games on a Saturday last season and the NFL is scheduled to once again play games on Christmas Day, which is a Wednesday, in 2024.

San Francisco had two games called by Buck and his ESPN colleague Troy Aikman in the 2023 season, facing the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7 and taking on the Baltimore Ravens on Christmas Day, a game broadcast under the banner of ESPN on ABC.

Buck and Aikman will seemingly once again be on the call for two 49ers games but, after losing to both the Vikings and Ravens last season, the reigning NFC Champions will hope for much better fortune in those contests.
